History of Narrabeen
Narrabeen has an interesting history. According to theories, Narrabeen came from the Aboriginal term Narrabine, which means swan.
Another story includes Captain Henry Reynolds and his family, who were killed by bushrangers.
However, the popular belief was it was named after Narrabine, a young Aboriginal girl, who helped the soldiers arrest the convicts involved in a massacre.
In January 2005, a 4,000-year-old remain of a man was discovered beside the Ocean Street bus shelter. It became popular as the Narrabeen Man.

The suburb of Narrabeen has four beaches including the Narrabeen, North Narrabeen, South Narrabeen, and the Collaroy Beach, with separate Surf Life Saving Club each.
A lagoon was also located in place.
The beach became popular after it was mentioned on the song Surfin’ USA by the Beach Boys. The band had their live concert in North Narrabeen Reserve in November 1992.
