History of Duffy Forest
The suburb name was named in honor of Patrick Duffy.
In 1857, Patrick Duffy was granted with a land in the Duffy Forest. He started timber cutting and built a stone wharf, which he called Duffys Wharf, in Cowan Creek to transport Timber.
The road was referenced as the Duffys Track.
Landmarks in Duffy Forest
Duffys Forest has several popular destinations including the Waratah Park Earth Sanctuary, which has become the film set of the popular televisions series, Skippy the Bush Kangaroo. The park became a prominent tourist attraction in the region of Australia during the hype of the series however was closed in August 2009.
Props and set decors were remained but the kangaroos and other animal species were already removed.
The AGBU Alexander Primary school is the only educational institution found in the Duffys forest.
