The name Belrose was said to be from the combination of the two plant names dominant in the area--- the Christmas Belle and Bush Rose.
On September 1923, the first Belrose post office was opened. It was closed in 1986 but in 1969, a new post office came into operation, which was known as the Belrose West Post Office.
Communities in the suburb are blend of natives and immigrants. 70.5% of the residents were from Australia while the rest are from South Africa, England, and New Zealand.
